Father, I'd like to pray for Abby's loved ones: Elizabeth, Bob, Davies, and Collette. Please open their hearts to believe so they can not only be part of her physical family, but also part of her spiritual one. May God be glorified through her faithful love for them.
My brother, Scott. I've shared the plan of salvation with him several times, but he just can't admit that he's a sinner. As we know, until that happens, there's no hope for salvation. Thank you, Lori!

Daniel just turned 29, and my youngest son will be 18 this summer. My youngest son has accepted Jesus as his Savior. He very much believes that God is our Creator, and he trusts in the word of the Bible. Sadly, Daniel has chosen not to believe in God or His word. He has chosen to believe that Bible is made up stories. Daniel and I have had many conversations about God and the Bible. But he is very stubborn and loves to argue his views about anything and everything. In the past our conversations have become very heated at times. So now to avoid conflict we do our best to avoid discussing God, Jesus, and the Bible. I no longer discuss my beliefs with Daniel, but I do keep praying he will one day open his heart.

My son Trent died in April this year. He was a very good, loving man but hadn't believed in God. It wasn't logical he said. Is there a prayer I can say for him? Is it too late for him?
Oh, Alys, I am so sorry to hear of your son's death. I can only imagine how your mother-heart is grieving. Please accept my most sincere condolences.
I, too, have lost loved ones who, to my knowledge, hadn't put their faith in Christ for salvation. There are several things that bring me comfort as I think about their eternity.
First, I'm comforted by the promise that God's Word will never return void. Like you, I'm sure, I shared God's Word and the truth of God's Word with my loved ones. I believe God's promise that he used his Word to accomplish eternal things in their hearts.
Second, I'm comforted that God desires that none should perish, but all to come to repentance and faith in him. Therefore, since my will for my loved ones and God's will is the same, I know he did everything possible to draw them to himself, including using my prayers to soften their hearts. Although I know he never violates a person's free will, if there was any way they could be saved, I rest in the confident assurance that he did it.
The final truth that comforts me is the knowledge that he holds our lives in his hands, and he didn't allow my loved ones to die until they had had every chance to surrender their hearts to him.
I don't have the assurance that my grandmother placed her faith in God before she died, but I know that all it would take would be a turning of her heart toward him, a silent surrender of her will to God's, to make her his child. Remember the prodigal son? All he had to do was to turn toward his father's house, and the father, who was waiting and watching for him, RAN toward him to embrace him.
It is my prayer both for my grandmother and for your son Trent, that sometime, maybe in the dark and quietness of their own minds as they lay upon their beds and contemplated their lives, that they humbled themselves before the Lord in faith and trust. That's all it takes.
As a mom who's wondering where her son is spending eternity, I would pray, "Lord, I trust that you did everything you could do to draw my son to yourself. Help me rest in the assurance that you specialize in turning hearts of stone into hearts of flesh, and there is nothing too hard for you." And then leave it with the Lord, confident that he loves your son even more than you do.

I am going to pin this past because your prayers for the unsaved are so beautiful I want to reference them to help me pray for my husband, Matt. But I had a quick question because I struggle with this. You said, "Apart from God opening a person’s heart to believe, the message of the Gospel falls on deaf ears." Please pray for my son Jared Michael. Jared is 23 years old and a great dad to his little boy. Jared suffers from depression and has twice tried to commit suicide. Jared is very smart & scientific minded therefore he believes evolution to be more likely than Creation. Jared likes to argue and tell why he thinks the stories in the bible couldn't possibly have happened. He claims that when he tried to commit suicide there was nothing afterward but darkness and silence. I am terrified for him. The love of my life (after Jesus) Deborah has a very difficult time yielding her heart and life to Jesus.
She is very strong willed and though she confesses to believing in Jesus, I feel she reacts irritated and a little afraid at the suggestion of surrendering control of her life to Jesus..
She has a difficult and dark past, and grew up with what you could call a survivors mentality.
I love her more than my own life, and my hearts deepest desire is to see her happy and fulfilled, but that can't happen until she opens her heart to Jesus' transforming and healing power. She needs a lot of healing.. i feel i can't get through to her with words alone.

Michael came from a family of non-believers and was just brought up with a very false sense of who God is, and religion in general.
He is the type of person who will get very turned off by Christians forcing or pushing their beliefs onto him, which I agree is the wrong way to approach it, especially to people who do not have Jesus in their life and lack that understanding of who He really is.
I pray that he can find his Savior through Jesus Christ and desires to continue pursuing and growing his relationship with Him.

ReplyDeleteOh, Alys, I am so sorry to hear of your son's death. I can only imagine how your mother-heart is grieving. Please accept my most sincere condolences.
DeleteI, too, have lost loved ones who, to my knowledge, hadn't put their faith in Christ for salvation. There are several things that bring me comfort as I think about their eternity.
First, I'm comforted by the promise that God's Word will never return void. Like you, I'm sure, I shared God's Word and the truth of God's Word with my loved ones. I believe God's promise that he used his Word to accomplish eternal things in their hearts.
Second, I'm comforted that God desires that none should perish, but all to come to repentance and faith in him. Therefore, since my will for my loved ones and God's will is the same, I know he did everything possible to draw them to himself, including using my prayers to soften their hearts. Although I know he never violates a person's free will, if there was any way they could be saved, I rest in the confident assurance that he did it.
The final truth that comforts me is the knowledge that he holds our lives in his hands, and he didn't allow my loved ones to die until they had had every chance to surrender their hearts to him.
I don't have the assurance that my grandmother placed her faith in God before she died, but I know that all it would take would be a turning of her heart toward him, a silent surrender of her will to God's, to make her his child. Remember the prodigal son? All he had to do was to turn toward his father's house, and the father, who was waiting and watching for him, RAN toward him to embrace him.
It is my prayer both for my grandmother and for your son Trent, that sometime, maybe in the dark and quietness of their own minds as they lay upon their beds and contemplated their lives, that they humbled themselves before the Lord in faith and trust. That's all it takes.
As a mom who's wondering where her son is spending eternity, I would pray, "Lord, I trust that you did everything you could do to draw my son to yourself. Help me rest in the assurance that you specialize in turning hearts of stone into hearts of flesh, and there is nothing too hard for you." And then leave it with the Lord, confident that he loves your son even more than you do.
THanks so much for sharing your story, dear heart. I'll be praying that the God of all comfort will keep your heart and mind in Christ Jesus.

ReplyDeletePlease pray for my son Jared Michael. Jared is 23 years old and a great dad to his little boy. Jared suffers from depression and has twice tried to commit suicide. Jared is very smart & scientific minded therefore he believes evolution to be more likely than Creation. Jared likes to argue and tell why he thinks the stories in the bible couldn't possibly have happened. He claims that when he tried to commit suicide there was nothing afterward but darkness and silence. I am terrified for him. Please pray for Jared to open his heart and mind to Jesus and also pray that God will heal him of his depression and make him see that life while not perfect is still worth living.

ReplyDeleteThe love of my life (after Jesus) Deborah has a very difficult time yielding her heart and life to Jesus.
She is very strong willed and though she confesses to believing in Jesus, I feel she reacts irritated and a little afraid at the suggestion of surrendering control of her life to Jesus..
She has a difficult and dark past, and grew up with what you could call a survivors mentality.
I love her more than my own life, and my hearts deepest desire is to see her happy and fulfilled, but that can't happen until she opens her heart to Jesus' transforming and healing power. She needs a lot of healing.. i feel i can't get through to her with words alone.
I would be happy beyond words if you could pray for her Lori.

Thank you so much Lori.. i feel the Lord is working great transormation in our hearts.. sometimes i get impatient and frustrated when results are not immediate and visible.. it's easy to yield control and worries to God during smooth waters, but when my doubts and worries get the best of me i pace in circles like a headless chicken.. Sorry Jesus, please help my unbelief....

ReplyDeleteMichael came from a family of non-believers and was just brought up with a very false sense of who God is, and religion in general.
He is the type of person who will get very turned off by Christians forcing or pushing their beliefs onto him, which I agree is the wrong way to approach it, especially to people who do not have Jesus in their life and lack that understanding of who He really is.
I pray that he can find his Savior through Jesus Christ and desires to continue pursuing and growing his relationship with Him.

Please agree in prayer that my husband, John, will come to know Jesus and have a personal relationship with him. He tells me he believes in God but he refuses to go to Church. He has a difficult time believing the Word of God, yet he refuses to study and seek answers to his questions. I know God knows his heart, and I trust in His timing, though it’s difficult for someone who also in Ministry. Thank you and God Bless.

Please pray for my daughter Holly, who was raised to know God, and her husband Tony. When Tony was young, he went swimming with a friend in the lake. The friend drowned; Tony got mad at God and turned his back on Him.
